How long will I have to complete the course?
Your Sittertrain course does not expire as we know you may want to go back to check information and resources after you have finished the course.
How long will it take me to complete the course?
We estimate the course will take you somewhere between 4-6 hours to complete.
How is the course structured?
There are 6 lessons in the course, each with 3-12 related topics.  The topics include text and videos, followed by a quiz.  You will need to pass each quiz before being able to move on to the next topic.
Do I have to do the entire course in one sitting?
You do not have to complete the course in a single sitting.  Once you enroll, you can log in anywhere at any time at your convenience.  We recommend that you try to complete at least one entire lesson at each sitting.  Remember, you will need to pass each topic quiz before moving on to the next topic.
Can I do the course in a language other than English?
While English may not be your first language, the course is written in easy to understand language. It will give you a chance to practice your English in preparation for working with children who have English as their first language or want to learn English alongside you.
Do I get any ongoing support after I complete the course?
You will be invited to join our social network on Facebook  as well as our blog.  We will have ongoing tips, as well as a place to share funny stories or ask advice about your adventures in babysitting.
Why should I take the course if I already have a family?
For every job you take on, you are usually required to do at least some training. So why should taking care of kids be any less? Do you really feel confident that you know what to do if a baby doesn’t stop crying or how to watch for hazards in the backyard? The Sitter Train courses will help you prepare for the unexpected challenges of caring for kids and living with a family.
But I’ve looked after children before? How can Sitter Train benefit me?
Living with a family is not going to be like anything you’ve done before. The Sitter Train course will not only give you great tips in how to be safe with kids that you never thought about before but will give you great ideas of how to engage with children and the family you are living. It will give you tips on how to get through the tough times of homesickness and when things are not going to plan.
How much does the course cost?
The Sitter Train courses are designed to be affordable so that an au pair or their parents should include it in the cost of travel and gaining work experience overseas. Likewise, the course is made affordable enough that it is an ideal gift to give to an au pair you have chosen so you will both make the most of the experience together.
Is this course accredited?
At this time, there is no single governmental regulation of the in-home child care industry. Our course material has all been read and verified for accuracy from a range of professionals including paediatric nurses, teachers, parenting educators, and professional water and outdoor safety experts. All of our instructional videos and fact sheets are provided through reputable private and government sources.
